In 1986 Jimmy Barnes was belting out the hit song ‘Working Class Man’, but the new Commodore Berlina was aimed squarely at middle Australia. Priced at $16,978, just over $3000 more than the base model SL, the Berlina offered more creature comforts and a smart set of wheels. With the VL, the Commodore had undergone the biggest facelift since its introduction in 1978. Some very clever styling changes resulted in a longer, sleeker look. The new imported 6-cylinder engine was smoother, quieter and more responsive. According to Motor Manual magazine the VL Commodore was ‘Better than ever’.
This is the very first Trax Commodore Berlina release. And it’s a beauty. Check out the characteristic VL features, including the slim-line headlights, small grille and the boot lip with a subtle aero spoiler. With Berlina badge on the back, distinctive Berlina wheels and original colours expect these Commodores to be snapped up quickly by collectors.
